I’m turning an old, “dumb” house into a smart one — usually without drilling holes in walls, ceilings, or floors. Sometimes a hole’s gotta happen, but I try to keep things wireless and non-invasive whenever I can. That’s the lens most of this blog is written through: retrofit-friendly smart home solutions for houses that weren’t built with any of this in mind.

Why I’m writing this?
Honestly? Mostly for myself. It’s a way to keep track of my own smart home journey — what worked, what didn’t, what I’d do differently. If a few useful bits and pieces spill over to you along the way, even better.
About Author
I’m a software engineer, born in 1983, living in a typical Finnish suburban house built in 1991. I’ve been into smart home tech for several years now, and slowly making this house smarter has become one of my main hobbies.
I write about that journey here — the DIY projects, the trial and error, the small wins. If I’m honest, I wish I’d started writing this down years ago. It would have saved me a lot of repeated mistakes.
